The role of intravenous tranexamic acid for blood loss in total hip arthroplasty secondary to femoral neck fracture

چکیده

Aim: The aim of the study was to compare efficacy intravenous (IV) administration tranexamic acid (TXA) in terms bleeding volume, allogeneic blood transfusion (ABT) requirement, and complications total hip arthroplasty (THA) secondary osteoporotic femoral neck fracture (FNF).
Material Method: A 165 patients who underwent THA on background FNF our clinic were included study. Patients' demographic data, preoperative postoperative parameters, amount loss calculated according Nadler formula, ABT, at 90-day follow-up recorded. divided into two groups those received 15mg/kg preoperatively 10mg/kg IV TXA end operation (TXA group-89 patients) did not receive (Control group-76 compared.
Results: formula significantly less group (1659,68±320,86ml) compared with Control (1774,43±365,24ml) (p=0.033). need for ABT 42.86% 57.14% control group, this difference statistically significant (p=0.008).
Conclusion: In basis FNF, 2 doses reduced ABT. We suggest that can be safely performed, especially patient reduce therefore by increasing any thromboembolic complications.

Is combined topical and intravenous tranexamic acid superior to intravenous tranexamic acid alone for controlling blood loss after total hip arthroplasty?

BACKGROUND We performed a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to compare the efficacy and safety of combined intravenous (IV) and topical tranexamic acid (TXA) with IV-TXA alone for controlling blood loss in patients following primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). METHODS PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, the Google database, the Chinese Wanf...

In-Hospital Outcomes after Hemiarthroplasty versus Total Hip Arthroplasty for Isolated Femoral Neck Fractures

Background:    Previous studies suggest total hip arthroplasty may have some benefits compared to hemi-arthroplasty for displaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures in patients more than 60 years of age. The primary research question of our study was whether in-hospital adverse events, post-operative length of stay (LOS) and mortality in patients 60 year of age or older differed between tot...

The effect of an intravenous bolus of tranexamic acid on blood loss in total hip replacement.

Tranexamic acid is a fibrinolytic inhibitor which reduces blood loss in total knee replacement. We examined the effect on blood loss of a standardised intravenous bolus dose of 1 g of tranexamic acid, given at the induction of anaesthesia in patients undergoing total hip replacement and tested the potential prothrombotic effect by undertaking routine venography. In all, 36 patients received 1 g...

Tranexamic acid plus diluted-epinephrine versus tranexamic acid alone for blood loss in total joint arthroplasty

BACKGROUND We conducted the present meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of tranexamic acid (TXA) plus diluted-epinephrine (DEP) for patients with total joint arthroplasty (TJA, including total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA)). METHODS Electronic databases (PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Chinese Wanfang databas...

Comparative study of topical vs. intravenous tranexamic acid regarding blood loss in total knee arthroplasty☆

OBJECTIVE To compare topical vs. intravenous tranexamic acid (TA) in total knee arthroplasty regarding blood loss and transfusion. METHODS Ninety patients were randomized to receive TA intravenously (20 mg/kg in 100 mL of saline; group IV), topically (1.5 g in 50 mL of saline, sprayed over the operated site, before release of the tourniquet; topical group), or intravenous saline (100 mL with ...
